I walked to my primary school, but my brothers and sister and my father all had to cycle to the next town. I have no idea how they managed. Have you read Dervla Murphy? I can recommend her books. Where the Indus is Young and On an Shoestring to Coorg are my favourites. They describe her travels in India and Pakistan with her young daughter.Mikihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05913370461423602648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855587306406190490.post-5806686918108107642021-05-02T20:15:23.543-07:002021-05-02T20:15:23.543-07:00I remember reading this book and enjoyed it. Mind you, I remember that winter of '63 and it was bad enough in Southampton (which is the "deep South" of Britain) - what it must have been like up in the mountains of North Wales doesn't bear thinking about. I think it must have been pretty grim looking after the animals. Our local farmers were saying how they struggled when we had The Beast From the East in recent years.

There's a hill called Carneddi not that far from us here, but nothing to do with where they lived, which was much further North.Bovey Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13117332471600275100noreply@blogger.com
